Book Donation Policy

We welcome book donations that are in good physical condition. Books may be of general or Jewish interest, fiction or non-fiction, and suitable for children, youth, or adults.

Donations can be dropped off at the front security desk, located at the main campus entrance, at any time with your name and phone number attached, or brought directly to the library during our opening hours.

Donation Guidelines:

  • Not Accepted: We do not accept prayer books. These should be taken to the synagogue of your choice for responsible disposal.

  • Tax Receipts: Donated books that are added to our collection are eligible for an official tax receipt of $5 per paperback and $10 per hardcover. To qualify, books must have been published within the last five years or be of historical or cultural significance, as determined by library staff.

    • If you would like a tax receipt, please indicate this at the time of donation and attach a note with your name, email address, home address, and phone number to the box or bag of donated books.

    • Tax receipts are issued annually, typically in February.

  • Books Not Added to Our Collection: Materials that do not meet our collection criteria will be sold in our ongoing Used Book Sale to support the library.

Items Not Accepted:
We do not accept outdated informational books, textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines (including National Geographic), VHS tapes, music CDs, cassette tapes, DVDs, vinyl records, maps, or comics.

If your donation does not fit our guidelines, you will be responsible for picking up any unaccepted materials.

Thank you for supporting our library!
